You'd be hard pressed to think that much in the way of preparation or upgrades are necessary to showcase our beautiful Balboa Park in San Diego.
But preparations and some renovations are underway to celebrate the centennial of Balboa Park. One of the highest profile upgrades is the renovation of the California Tower which has been closed to the public for 80 years. A walk to the top of this showcase building will give a spectacular view of the park and surrounding area that most people have never seen. It will be fun to photograph from too. All images in this post were taken with a Rolleiflex 2.8f on Kodak Tri-X film.
Really, the whole park is an amazing place to visit with a camera. The park hosted the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. Many of the buildings in the park were built to showcase the park for that celebration.
The park itself hosts many museums including the Air and Space Museum, the Museum of Man and the San Diego Museum of Art amongst many other places to visit. The world famous San Diego Zoo is also a main attraction in the park. If you're ever in San Diego, Balboa Park is not to be missed and bring your camera.
As always, thanks for reading.
