I was a bit surprised to see a theme develop in my images this week that seemed to revolve around farming and agriculture. I live in a town that prides itself on being a "The City in the Country." As a side note, the header image on our City’s website is one of mine :-), a black and white photograph of our train in Old Poway Park at http://poway.org/
So we do have a rural heritage here. We have numerous horse trails around the city and into the back country and many of the properties are zoned for horses and livestock. Being so close to San Diego yet having the feeling of being out in the country is one of the reasons we moved here many years ago.
I love this project for the freedom it provides to just take photographs of what I see around me. Usually that means I photograph in my own community and the surrounding area. There’s no pretension of having to make an amazing image everyday, just one that attracts my eye. There are days when I just don’t see anything, those are the days when a bit of panic can set in and sometimes the images those days reflects just taking a photograph to make sure I have one for the day. But that’s the pulse of a 365 project, a commitment to one a day no matter what.
